Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are all set to tie the knot over the summer after three years of dating. While the couple keeps things pretty low-key, they've recently begun publicly opening up about their relationship. In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, the 23-year-old actress revealed how the two initially met back in 2016. Turns out, her love story with Joe has one major thing in common with Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's early romance.
As Sophie tells it, she and Joe had a lot of mutual friends in common before they actually met. Their friends, such as Hailee Steinfeld, wanted to set them up but it never worked out. Finally, though, Joe made a move all on his own. “We were following each other on Instagram, and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue," Sophie said. Based on an interview Hailee gave back in 2018, Sophie reached out to ask for advice. "I mean, I will say, I did get that text from Sophie being like, ‘So tell me about Joe,’ and I was like ‘Go for it!’" Hailee said at the time.
Fans of the Jonas Brothers will remember that Joe's younger brother Nick met his now-wife by sliding into her DMs, as well. Fingers crossed Joe took a more casual approach than Nick's LinkedIn style "I think we should connect" greeting. Looks like the only JoBro to make the first move IRL is oldest brother Kevin Jonas.
Sophie also spoke about what it's been like dating a former teen heartthrob, saying she thinks Jonas Brothers fans kind of hate her for scooping Joe up, but "it's better now" because "his fans have gotten a bit older. If I’d been dating him during the years when he was appealing to the 14-year-old crowd, it might have been a bit more hostile.”
