TX House Starts Hearing Over Power Outages

A joint hearing is going on in the Texas House regarding last week's power outages.

The State Affairs and Energy Resources committees are hearing testimony from energy executives over winterization preparations.

Millions of Texans couldn't turn on the lights after two winter storms and frigid temperatures hit the state. Multiple deaths, mostly in Southeast Texas, were also reported from the cold.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages the state's power grid, says the outages were necessary to prevent a catastrophic grid failure.
