British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Monday he "will have no choice" but to offer 3 million people of Hong Kong visa-free refuge after condemning China's proposed national security law.
Johnson said that if China erodes the human rights of those in Hong Kong it will be breaking its treaty with the United Kingdom.
The Prime Minister promised that he would "willingly" bring about "the biggest changes" in Britain's visa system to allow Hong Kong's residents to be free from oppression.
Beijing says China's proposed security laws placed in Hong Kong, which would include China's secret service and arbitrary arrest of critics, are necessary to protect itself. Hong Kong and China were to remain "one country, two systems" until 2047.
