Woman Arrested For Attacking Walmart Shopper With Baseball Bat

A woman is recovering after being attacked inside a North Carolina Walmart. Police arrested another woman they say hit her with a metal baseball bat inside the retail giant.

According to the Burlington Police Department, officers responded to a call from the store around 3 p.m. on Wednesday (November 18) about a possible assault inside Walmart. When police found the woman, they saw she had been struck with a baseball bat and had received non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Witnesses, both employees and shoppers alike, rushed to the woman's aid and reported her saying that she was minding her business when the other woman attacked without cause. According to police, the attacker's motive is unclear as the two do not appear to know each other. The investigation remains ongoing.

The unprovoked attacked was shocking to those who witnessed it. One witness said it almost makes him scared to go out in public.

Police arrested 31-year-old Candice Coles and charged her with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. She was taken to the Alamance County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Attempts by local media to contact her lawyer were unsuccessful.
