Katie Miller, who works as Vice President Mike Pence's press secretary, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Pence was about to depart for Des Moines, Iowa, on Air Force Two when news of her positive test broke. While she was not slated to travel on the plane, staffers who had contact with her were seen deplaning from the aircraft at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
After a delay of about an hour, Air Force Two departed for Des Moines, where Pence is scheduled to meet with faith leaders about how to responsibly host religious gatherings during these times. He will also participate in a round-table discussion about securing America's food supply.
Miller is the second person in the Trump Administration to contract COVID-19 this week. On Wednesday, it was announced that a personal valet for President Donald Trump also had the virus. Both Trump and Pence tested negative on Wednesday and Thursday. Trump said that going forward, the White House will increase testing from once every week to once every day.
Because Miller had close contact with members of the press, the White House will provide coronavirus testing for journalists.
Katie is married to President Trump's senior adviser, Stephen Miller.
