Celebrity Chef Facing Charges For Allegedly Groping Woman In 2017

Fast Company Innovation Festival - Passion Play: How Jessica Alba And Mario Batali Created Multichannel Marvels

Celebrity chef Mario Batali is set to be arraigned on charges of indecent assault and battery stemming from an incident in Boston in 2017. Natali Tene has accused Batali of forcibly groping her and kissing her at Towne Stove and Spirits while they posed together for selfies.

She filed a civil suit against Batali in which she claimed that he grabbed her breasts, stuck his hands between her legs, and grabbed her face to kiss her. She says she has suffered from anxiety and emotional distress following the incident.

Batali has faced accusations of sexual misconduct from at least seven different women, but this is the first time he will be facing criminal charges.

Batali has denied the accusations against him.

"Mr. Batali denies the allegations in both this criminal complaint and the civil complaint filed last August," Anthony Fuller, Batali's lawyer, told ABC News in a statement. "The charges, brought by the same individual without any new basis, are without merit. He intends to fight the allegations vigorously and we expect the outcome to fully vindicate Mr. Batali."
