Nearly 70 Miles of Roads in Randolph County Set to Close

Low Section Of Man Working On Road

It'll soon be a rocky road for some Randolph County drivers. Starting in July, a Construction company will begin road repairs on 68 miles of roads throughout the county.

The NC Department of Transportation just awarded a contract for the work worth $11.6 million to Sharpe Bros. of Greensboro. The business will complete milling, resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction.

The work consists of two sections of NC 49, a section each of US 220 Business, US 220 Alternate, NC 705 and NC 22, and 25 sections of secondary roads.

The state said the longest span is 13 miles of NC 49 between Maurine Drive and New Hope Road, west of Asheboro.
